On behalf of the PTO, we would like to welcome everyone back to school. You ask what is PTO? PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, consisting of parents and teachers working together to support and enrich all students. We support student needs, school staff, and assist in efforts to solve school needs through volunteering and funding.
What is the PTO and who can be a Member?
The PBCCS PTO is in its start-up phase. Here are PBCCS we recognize the need for supporting students, families, and teachers in this way, and are ready to move into this new and exciting phase in life of our school. The 2017-2018 Chair is Meridith Foley. Our PTO will be made up of several other officers, mainly a Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and not to mention our wonderful school staff and volunteers. So, who can be a member? Are you a father, mother, grandparent, protector, guardian, caring community member and/or a person who teaches or instructs at PBCCS? If you answered YES, then we would like you to become a member. (PTO will have a $5/person annual membership fee in order to establish a solid member group and to get start-up funds established. All are welcome and membership scholarships are available if necessary.)
PTO Programs & Fundraising
Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our school with programs, resources, services, and funds that will enrich and maximize the education of every child and benefit the school. To meet this important objective, we will probably do some fundraising. However, we have PLENTY of other jobs to do. Here are a few programs that we will potentially sponsor and/or support: Fall Family Gathering, Library volunteers, annual Fall & Spring Book Fairs, Spring BBQ, Teacher Appreciation, Awards Day, Field Day, and various other events and fundraisers throughout the year. We also want to spend a lot of time focusing on daily/weekly needs of students and classrooms in the ways of: mentoring specific children, reading with students, family homework/reading/parenting workshops, “room parents” supporting teachers’ needs for classroom fun/learning/engagement.
Become a Volunteer….Why YOU should get involved!
As you can see, we are a going to be a busy group. This is where you can come in! We need your help, and so do your children. A HUGE thanks to all of our various volunteers from last year(s) for all their hard work and dedication helping students and teachers at PBCCS in countless ways. Here at PBCCS, we strive for all of our students to be known and supported. Research shows that families that are involved in schools will have well-balanced, supported learners. What better way to support your young learner than to become involved in their school community? We are in need of growth and are seeking volunteers to establish our Parent Teacher Organization. The PTO is a team effort in which we cannot succeed on our own. Please come and join us by signing up or contacting me today.
